Immerse yourself in the miracle of the season.  December 21 is the first day of winter solstice — marking the longest night and the shortest day of the year.  After this date, the days slowly begin to lengthen.

‘Tis the season for love, peace, joy and possibilities.  Celebrate the return of light by illuminating your light!  Allow your inner light, the Christ within, to guide you at all times.  Bless others by becoming a vessel of empowerment and prosperity throughout the upcoming year.

Looking back over the year...

I’ve experienced a slight shift in consciousness over the last few months.  I’m mustering more faith and courage, and living more fully in the moment.  Although planning ahead has its merits, I’m learning to stop thinking about my agenda throughout the day.  Sometimes it’s challenging, but turning off the chatter regarding daily activities allows me to focus on the task at hand, savor the second and be more productive.  I’ve determined that living in the present moment has profound benefits, like discovering solutions to old problems—not to mention stress relief!

What significant lessons have you learned this year?  Did you overcome any challenges?  What do you want to accomplish in 2017?  Please share your ideas and thoughts on the Connect Tab.

Craving Crushers

Parties.  Family gatherings.  Seasonal events.  With all the sugar plums parading around your space, you may be tempted to abandon your health regime during the holidays.  While it’s okay to indulge once in a while, succumbing to the deluge of sweet treats the entire month of December can cause your wellness program to crumble!

Is it possible to crush your cravings during the holidays so you don’t overindulge?  Absolutely!  To help tame your taste buds, try the following four natural appetite suppressants and palate cleansers.  Citrus, peppermint, ginger and apple cider vinegar will not only help curb your sugar cravings and appease your appetite, research shows they also claim powerful healing benefits.

 1.  Citrus Rind

Chew organic citrus peel.  Orange is great!

2.  Peppermint Water

In an 8-ounce cup of water, add 2-4 drops of peppermint oil.  Or use fresh leaves when available.

3.  ACV Water

In an 8-ounce cup of water, add 1 teaspoon of raw, unrefined apple cider vinegar.

4.  Grapefruit Ginger Blend

1 medium grapefruit (peeled)

2 cups water

1/4 – 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon

1-inch cube fresh ginger (peeled)

3 – 4 drops liquid stevia or 1/8 –1/4 teaspoon stevia powder

For a refreshing beverage, blend the above ingredients in a high-powered blender.  This makes two servings, so you’ll can be prepared when the crave wave rushes in between meals.

Another tip:  Before heading out to the festivities, eat a small healthy snack to quash your hunger.  This will prevent you from gorging on the pastry trays.  Instead, enjoy a few hors d’oeuvres and engage in stimulating conversation.  The main focus of these gatherings is to connect with others, right?

Consider This

Cultures across the globe recognize the color green as a symbol of abundance, endurance, strength and prosperity.  This metaphor can be attributed to the majestic evergreen.   When all appears bleak and austere, the elegant and mighty evergreen distinguishes itself on the snow-covered landscape.  Through self-care, we, too, can resemble the mighty blue spruce and remain ever “green” during winter.

Love, peace and health,
