Dear School Community,
For the first time in U.S. history, children are not expected to outlive their parents. The reason is due to the epidemic of chronic childhood diseases, which has doubled over the last 20 years. As advocates for children, we have an obligation to do all we can to help reverse this trend.
Many health problems can be corrected through nutrition and lifestyle changes. Does your school have a wellness program that addresses the issues of children’s health? Do staff members support healthy choices in daily activities? What health education programs does your school offer to parents?
As you know, nutrition and lifestyle significantly impact learning and behavior. Through community awareness, education and prevention, school districts can become models for healthy living. If your district is interested in initiating a wellness program or expanding an existing one, I would be delighted to work with you. Please call or email me for more information.
