I received my health coach certificate from Institute for Integrative Nutrition, a cutting-edge health coach training program and the largest nutrition school in the world.
During my coursework, I was introduced to over 100 dietary theories, practical lifestyle management techniques and innovative coaching methods with some of the world’s prominent health and wellness experts. My instructors included Dr. Andrew Weil, Director of the Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine; Dr. Deepak Chopra, leader in the field of mind-body medicine; Dr. David Katz, Director of Yale University’s Prevention Research Center; Dr. Walter Willett, Chair of Nutrition at Harvard University; Geneen Roth, bestselling author and expert on emotional eating; and many other leading researchers and nutrition authorities. My training has equipped me with extensive knowledge in holistic nutrition, health coaching and preventive health so that I will be a valuable resource to those seeking lifestyle interventions that have lasting results.
The following are some key concepts from my training:
Bio-individuality™: “The concept of bio-individuality is that each person has unique food and lifestyle needs. One person’s food is another person’s poison, and that’s why fad diets tend to fail in the long run” (Institute for Integrative Nutrition).
Primary Food™: “Healthy relationships, a fulfilling career, regular physical activity and a spiritual awareness are essential forms of nourishment. When these ‘primary foods’ are balanced, what you eat becomes secondary” (Institute for Integrative Nutrition).
Integrative Nutrition™ Plate: “The Integrative Nutrition Plate emphasizes the importance of local and organic produce, whole grains, high-quality proteins, plant-based fats, and water…and emphasizes the importance of proportions and portion size” (Institute for Integrative Nutrition).
I practice a holistic approach to health and wellness, focusing on how all aspects of our lives are connected. For example, does a stressful relationship cause you to overindulge on food? Or, do the lack of sleep and low energy prevent you from maintaining a consistent exercise routine? My approach does not create lists of restrictions, but is built on a rewarding experience that will nourish you, transform you and help you flourish.
