March greetings, friends!

Thank you for your kind words and encouragement as Lifestyle 120 Nourishing News enters its third month.  If you did not get a chance to read the first two newsletters and blogs, they are archived on the website and can be accessed by visiting Lifestyle120.com. 

 March is an exciting month, since it is the prelude to spring.  I hope you are marching along to its rhythms in anticipation of the unlimited possibilities that lie ahead.  As always, please share my light and love with friends and relatives.

Get Clean for Spring  

March is for growth and transition—a time to spring forward.  What are you doing to prepare for your big leap?  The focus of this newsletter is to help you gather enough momentum so you can bloom spring.  Get ready to spring into action.

How many of you recall the popular 1960’s tune, “Turn!  Turn!  Turn!” by The Byrds?  As winter loosens its icy grip, the time has come to turn to the prolific season of spring.  Are you prepared to look at ways to make a smooth transition into the new season and focus on restoration and renewal?  With broom in hand, let’s begin sweeping.

 T.K.’s 14-day Cleansing Plan

This manageable plan will prepare you to make your unique coming-out this spring.

1.  Start your morning by sipping a hot cup of nettle leaf tea, and wait one hour before eating.  Did you know that nettle leaf tea boasts a long list of healthy benefits?  One on the list is it helps to relieve seasonal allergies, and another is it contains high levels of antioxidants.  This tea is worth waking up to.


2.  Eat a light, balanced breakfast, lunch and dinner.  Think fresh produce!


3.  Drink the Spring Green Cocktail as an afternoon snack.  Refrain from eating two hours before and two hours after your drink.  This will allow the cocktail to do its cleansing work.  (See recipe below)


4.  Ready for the next suggestion?  Eliminate coffee, fried foods, and ALL PROCESSED starches and sweet treats.  Okay, let’s spell out the last two items.  For this 14-day period, do not consume pastas, breads, cookies, cakes, pies, chips, crackers, sodas, lattes, ice cream…  Oh, yeah—you can do it!  Release that which was not serving you so you can attain more. 


5.  Drink six more glasses of water throughout the day.  Your morning tea and your afternoon cocktail count for two.  Of course, this will be a no-brainer for you, since you have been drinking eight glasses of water since January.  Right?


6.  Exercise three or more days each week.  Sweating helps to remove toxins from the body.

 The above suggestions will be a great way to jump into spring.  Perhaps you will feel so motivated, so vibrant and full of energy that you will want to repeat 2, 4, 5 and 6 throughout the summer months.  Definitely take this opportunity to Turn!  Turn!  Turn!  Turn over a new leaf!

Nutritious Nuggets 

The key ingredient of the Spring Green Cocktail is dandelion greens, a powerful tonic.  Dandelion greens are known for their ability to help purify the liver and therefore are an excellent choice this spring for detoxing the body.  Because dandelion greens are somewhat bitter, they need to be combined with other produce to balance the palate.  So, don’t expect this beverage to taste like the sweet smoothie from your neighborhood juice bar.  This cocktail is about more than taste—it’s a cleansing blend that will help neutralize your taste buds and help clear your mind, body and spirit so you can spring forth this season.
