T. Kari Mitchell - Nourishing News -

Summer 2016

Summer greetings, friends!

I hope you are well and have fun activities planned for the summer.

Nourishing News is celebrating 19 months of wellness information.  Thank you for your continued support.  As always, if you know someone who can benefit from our health news, please share the love and light.  Click here to visit Lifestyle 120.

Pardon my delay in posting the summer newsletter.  I’ve been involved in new ventures that demanded my undivided attention.  Over the last several months, I participated in Landmark Forum Chicago and Landmark Seminar, designed for personal and professional development.

In May, I became an Orenda International partner and will be sharing Orenda’s news with you periodically.  Last week, I concluded my six-month health series with Dr. Pat of Transformation Talk Radio.   Stay tuned for future radio programming.  And most recently, I’ve been working with a phenomenal team of community leaders who are producing my play for youth, Junk Food Junkie No More, next month.  So many incredible opportunities for supporting Lifestyle 120’s mission!

Keep Cool by Eating Cool

Crisp raw vegetables offer vitamins, fiber and water during the hot summer months.  Chop up some fresh sweet peppers, carrots, jicama, etc. and place them in a container in the refrigerator.  For a quick healthy snack, dip your veggie sticks in your favorite hummus.  It’s a balanced, nutritious and satisfying way to enjoy more vegetables.  Your veggies supply the good carbs and vitamins, and the hummus provides the healthy fats and protein.  Check out Roasted Red Pepper Hummus here, a previously posted recipe.

Stay Healthy by Eating Whole, Nutritious Foods

Hurry!  Apricot season will be ending soon.  Apricots are rich in antioxidants and vitamins A and C.

Wrap up apricot season with Mini Whole Grain Scones dressed with apricot spread.  Get the new recipe here.

Travel and Exploration

You don’t have to hop a plane to enjoy a vacation.  Sometimes short, local excursions can offer the perfect diversion from the stresses of everyday life.  Consider immersing yourself in the activities of the big city for the weekend.  Explore special attractions.  Take in a live concert and have dinner at a new restaurant.  Visit a museum or get tickets to a sports event.  No need to plan too far in advance—spontaneity can often provide relief from the daily grind.

July is Parks and Recreation Month

Have you ever visited Oregon?  Oregon, Illinois, that is.  White Pines Forest State Park is a gorgeous area, perfect for a weekend getaway or for celebrating a special occasion with friends and family.  Chillax in a cabin at White Pines Inn.  Enjoy dining in the lodge, hiking, fishing, canoeing, kayaking and attending a live performance at the dinner theatre.  A healthy lifestyle requires more than eating wholesome foods.  It also involves nurturing relationships, developing spirituality, pursuing personal interests and exercising your muscles.  A short vacation can nourish all five areas of your healthy lifestyle!

Visit the White Pines Inn website here.

Weeding the Garden

“Why fertilize the garden if you’re not going to pull the weeds that threaten its survival?”—Bishop TD Jakes, Before You Do

Take time for self-reflection this month.  How are things going in your life?  Are you making progress with your wellness goals?  What do you want to accomplish this year?  Celebrate your successes and appreciate those lovely flowers that are prolifically blooming in the garden of your life.  Uproot what’s not working to make room for expansion.  Regularly cultivate your sacred garden.  Don’t allow the weeds to overwhelm your progress.

It can be challenging to create and activate a personal healthy-living plan alone.  I am ready to support you on your wellness journey.  Schedule a complementary breakthrough session with me this week. Click here to schedule an appointment.

You know that I stress the importance of a healthy lifestyle, which includes fresh, whole foods and physical activity.  Supplementation is also important for removing toxins, boosting immunity, and supporting overall health and well-being.

I mentioned above that I recently partnered with Orenda International, a nutritional supplement company that’s on the cutting edge of natural health. I would never recommend a product without first trying it myself.  Several months ago, I began using Orenda’s two brands.  Clean Burn and Shape is the complete detoxification and weight loss program. Ultimate includes the vitamins and nutritional blends that support your health.

I have been pleased with the benefits that Orenda International offers and impressed with the number of lives that have been transformed as reported by doctors and their patients. Be watching for my Orenda series highlighting my experience with Clean Burn and Shape 10-day Cleanse.  For more information on Orenda’s products, click here or send me a message.  There is so much I’d like to share with you.

Consider This

“Stay in the solution!”—Kamau Murray, XS Tennis founder and CEO

Kamau’s motto inspires students to remain focused on the game.  What a powerful mindset to adopt for everyday challenges—at any age.  Instead of focusing on the problem, we have the power to turn on our creative thought processes and invent a solution.
