Your Next Act Is Coming Up...
What role are you planning to play at this important season in your life? Have you memorized your lines or do you prefer to improvise as you go along?
I am reminded of a passage from As You Like It by William Shakespeare that says: “All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women merely players; they have their exits and entrances; and one man in his time plays many parts.”
No doubt, you have successfully navigated many significant seasons — but now you’re hoping to start a new chapter or maybe even a brand-new beginning. What’s your next step? I’d like to suggest an exercise that might help light your path. Get ready to do some journaling.
First, imagine that you have just completed a significant stretch of your life journey and are preparing to make a big transition. Write about the things that no longer serve your higher self — the things you want to leave behind. What have you gained or learned? How has this portion of the path changed you? Is there a life-altering event or particular lesson that you will forever cherish? Why? If you could rewrite an experience, how would it turn out? Spend an hour or so reflecting on these questions.
Next, visualize your next grand entrance to the world stage. What is your life purpose? What dream or goal do you still want to bring to fruition? As the curtains open, visualize yourself engaging in activities that will make your heart sing. How will actively participating in your upcoming production make you feel? As you perform your role, are you sharing your Divine gifts and talents with others?
Now, what will be your first intentional step to prepare for your next act?
You may want to read an enjoyable book on the subject. I’ve seen some intriguing titles. In your search engine, type: best seller books on how to prepare for your second half.
Here are a few titles to get you started —
Women Who Spark After 50: Inspiration to Reinvent and Reignite Your Life for the Second Half by Aleta Norris, What Color Is Your Parachute by Richard N. Bolles, and The Encore Career Handbook: How to Make a Living and a Difference in the Second Half of Life by Marci Alboher.
You have a lot of life left and you deserve to live it to the fullest. One of my favorite quotes by Ernest Holmes, founder of Religious Science is, “We must do as it is written, but we write it ourselves.” Now is the opportune time to invent something fresh and authentic. As you stand on your stage of life, know that you have everything you need to step forward. Write your script and read your lines, but be open and receptive to the Divine design. Enjoy your journey, brilliant and courageous creator!
