Are you actively involved in improving our global environment? If you regularly recycle, that’s great! What else are you doing? One way to make a big difference in improving the earth’s health is to reduce your use of plastics.
Plastic pollution is a big concern. Just look around—plastic is pervasive! And we can’t seem to get rid of it. However, we can do our part by reducing our use of it. Plastics are detrimental to humans, wildlife, our water supply, and just about everything related to living on earth. Not only do the toxic chemicals found in plastic poison our food chain, they also negatively affect our entire ecosystem.
Most of us have sipped water or other beverages from plastic bottles, without thinking much about the potential hazards. But just by being aware that plastic is a problem, we can do something about it. Here’s a simple act you can initiate today that will make a huge positive impact on your health, the environment and future generations. Vow to reduce your use of plastic bottles and plastic straws, and choose healthy alternatives.
For example, I like to prepare my herbal water in my eco-friendly, reusable, and recyclable glass water bottle. Glass does not contain the dangerous chemicals like BPA, PVC, and phthalates that are found in plastic and that can leach into your water. Bottle your own clean water before heading out the door.
While you are eliminating the plastic water bottle, you may as well replace single-use plastic straws with reusable ones like bamboo, silicone or the various biodegradable versions. One of my glass water jugs includes a glass straw.
Remember, living healthily involves being conscious about every aspect of your life. Taking care of the environment is everyone’s responsibility.
Another advantage to reducing the use of plastic water bottles is that you can save a bundle. How much do plastic water bottles cost? Multiply that by how many you purchase in a week? Those numbers can amount to a substantial savings.
Reducing the use of plastic water bottles is a healthy choice. Can you think of other conscious ways to express appreciation for the earth? Set a loving intention for yourself by committing to one act that will help make our environment cleaner. Cleaner environment—cleaner life. Take a deep, cleansing breath. Now close your eyes and visualize how this lifestyle change can prepare you for your amazing second half.
